The Need to Buy Mirena

Mirena is a small and soft plastic t-shaped IUD device that is inserted into the womb. It contains small amounts of hormones levonorgestrel. Levonorgestrel is a synthetic form of progesterone, a female sex hormone responsible for the regulation of the menstrual cycle.

Mirena serves according to needs. Primarily, it can be used as a contraceptive. The levonorgestrel content of the Mirena that is released directly in the lining of the womb, prevents conception by increasing the thickness of the mucus at the cervix hence interfering with the movement of the sperm toward the egg. It also reduces the ability of the sperm to survive in the uterus. In some cases, it prevents ovulation (egg release). This is better than other contraceptive methods. When inserted, it is effective up to 5 years. Since this can be removed, women can get pregnant again once it has been removed.

Second reason to buy mirena, aside from the contraceptive use, is for the control of heavy or prolonged menstrual period of unknown cause called the idiopathic menorrhagia. Mirena is highly effective in the reduction of Menstrual Blood Loss (MBL). This has been recommended by the National Institute for Clinical Health and Excellence (NICE) in the UK as the first line of treatment for MBL when there are no histological and structural abnormalities suspected. Presently, Mirena is licensed for treating heavy flows. Within 3 months of use, blood loss will be less than 85%. By 12 months, it will be reduced with 97% every cycle.
